a place in the sun

( Gay St
NYC )

the one that got away !
blurry photo on a crystal clear evening
Statue of Liberty, center, gold torch held high,
folds in her robe visible...

so clear down by the St of Lib…tried to get a pic of it but failed…but I could see sooo many lights all around so clearly and the St herself seems to have different lighting, making her more 3 D and bigger-
seeming…more details visible…not just a silhouette…the torch seems bigger too and you could see its shape much more clearly—a big gold Dairy Queen…and new lights on the pedestal…
The Verrazano Bridge was all strung out too….so beautiful….just amazing to see all the lights against the dark black sky and inky water…the boats too were all lit up and glowing…ferries and Coast Guard
crafts…big beautiful jeweled toys...

déjà vu !

My mother had a dress in this very fabric
when I was a kid.

She got it in Puerto Rico, on vacation with my father.
My sister and I loved it,
and my mother used to let us wear it sometimes.
In my favorite picture of the three of
us, taken by my brother on the beach in Italy,
my sister is in it...

To see this bag in the subway was a powerful experience.
